SecurePay launches antifraud
SecurePay has launched its new E-Commerce Fraud Detection and Prevention Service, which checks 'black listed' cards and stolen cards in real time, and prevents them entering the approval phase. Fraud prevention techniques include checking that the purchaser's e-mail address is real and that the e-mail provider exists. Countries with very high fraud levels can be blocked through the use of the IP address. The company also maintains a negative 'black list' file for merchants, linked to an international consortium of negative card files which filters out bad cards.
Harvest Road acquires Cyber
Software developer for virtual communities Harvest Road has acquired electronic document management software company Cyber International for $400,000, adding document publishing solutions to the its portfolio. Harvest Road specialises in supplying Web server-based tools for online content aggregation, creation and dissemination for "geographically dispersed" virtual communities including the health, education and finance and industries, company officials said.

Reservation computer systems operator Amadeus Global Travel Distribution has formed an aliance with online travel agent Travel.com.au (TVL) to develop e-commerce solutions for regional tourism industries. The $9.93 million deal forms a wide-ranging strategic alliance through which Atlas Travel Technologies, the wholly-owned Australian and New Zealand subsidiary of Madrid-based Amadeus, will offer Internet content technologies, m-commerce (mobile phone technology) and e-commerce solutions.
Comet forms joint venture to handle BSkyB's installationsComet Satellite and Cable has formed a joint venture with UK-based satellite installation provider Beresford Swift to perform installations for pay TV operating giant British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB). Comet has a 50 per cent stake in Beresford Swift Communications (BSC) and will contribute $2 million of working capital to the deal, plus a host of IT solutions.
