Australia has become the 39th country to sign as a party to the Council of Europe Convention on Cybercrime meaning that local law enforcement agencies will be able to obtain data about cybercrime from international partner agencies.
Joining the European Convention on Cybercrime will be the only way to spread information to Australians about the increasing threat posed by global cyber criminals according to IT industry and government leaders, according to Federal Attorney-General, Robert McClelland.
The Federal and State government attorney generals have agreed to establish a National Cybercrime Working Group to coordinate a response to online threats, including the increasing rate of bullying.
