Novell acquires management company

Novell on Wednesday announced that it would acquire asset management vendor Tally Systems to boost its own systems management software.

The company will add Tally Systems' software for discovery, inventory, license management and software usage and trend analysis to its ZENworks server and desktop management software.

Tally Systems has long had software that supports Novell's NetWare network operating system. With the Tally Systems' software, IT will be able to track systems and information and comply with government regulations.

Tally has two suites of products -- the Cenergy Management Suite and TS.Census License Compliance Suite, as well as several point products -- Cenergy Patch Manager, TS.Census Asset Inventory, TS.Deploy, WebCensus and Power Census for managing NetWare and Windows desktops.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
