About Bacchus Marsh

Traditionally a meeting ground for the Aboriginal population of the area, Bacchus Marsh was established in 1838 by Kenneth Scobie Clarke and the town’s namesake, William Henry Bacchus. It is located in the local government area of Shire of Moorabool, and is about 50 kilometres west of Melbourne.

The state of Victoria is known for its innovation in ICT and hosts the National Broadband Network’s Network Operations Centre (NOC), or nerve centre for all NBN operations on the mainland.

Bacchus Marsh NBN Deployment

Bacchus Marsh is one of 14 second release sites planned for the mainland. Announced on 8 July 2010 by NBN Co, construction is set to begin in the second quarter of 2011 for 3,000 properties.
