Microsoft Net Reach Already Far Beyond Browsers

Even as Microsoft Corp. has fought a bitter court battle to defend itself against charges of using its PC operating system monopoly to quash competitors and make illegal inroads into the Internet browser market, the company has boosted its cyberspace presence. Microsoft's push into the Internet market has been so successful already that there are signs that the world's largest software company has become one of the globe's leading generators of Internet traffic.

Intel Lays Claim to Fastest PC Chip

As expected, Intel Corp. today announced that its 1GHz Pentium III is available -- two days after rival Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) said that it is shipping its 1GHz Athlon processor.

Cisco, Motorola Build Wireless 'Net

Cisco Systems and Motorola said yesterday that they will jointly invest $US1 billion over the next four to five years to develop and deliver a global wireless Internet architecture.
