PayPal Australia offers P2P payments service

PayPal has launched its peer to peer payments (P2P) service PayPal.Me in Australia.

After creating a PayPal.Me/ URL, consumers can collect money from anyone by sharing their link in an email, chat, or post.

Senders click on the link on any device, enter the payment amount, sign into PayPal, and the money is in the requestor’s account.

However, people who don’t have the PayPal.Me URL can still send money to any email address they have for the recipient.

To accept the funds, the recipient can either sign up for a PayPal account or add the email address to their existing PayPal account.

A number of Australian banks offer P2P payments via their mobile apps, including CBA's mobile app, which offers payments via Facebook, email and mobile phone numbers.

ANZ Bank's goMoney application enables customers to transfer funds between friends and businesses using mobile phone details.

NAB's Flik app enables P2P payments including through email, social-networking site Facebook, in-app generate QR codes and NFC.
