AAPT names COO, but still no CEO

AAPT may be one step closer to finding a replacement for CEO Larry Williams, who is looking to return to the US in the coming year.

The carrier has appointed Ron Nissen, former Motorola Asia Pacific vice president and general manager, as its chief operating officer.

It is widely speculated that in the position of COO, Nissen will be trained for the role of CEO in preparation for Williams' departure next year.

Williams has alrady publicly stated he will remain with AAPT until the end of 2000.

AAPT was unavailable for comment before press time.
