Baltimore Launches New Security Package

LONDON (04/11/2000) - PKI (public key infrastructure) developer Baltimore Technologies PLC, based in Dublin, today announced that it is offering a package of security products and services to customers such as banks, health-care companies, governments and other authorities.

Baltimore is one of many companies that are launching, or re-launching, e-security products here at the Infosecurity show in London today.

The security package, called Unicert Options, consists of a range of models for e-security from which customers can choose the level of security and service they want. One of the plans offers a certification-hosting service to companies seeking to outsource their PKI, resembling the ASP (application service provider) type of service.

In addition, Baltimore today announced the launch of a hardware product series called SureWare, aiming to provide cryptographic security for use in PKI, secure Web systems and VPNs (virtual private networks). SureWare is the second generation of security hardware, replacing Baltimore's existing hardware product series.

Baltimore merged with its main competitor, GTE Cybertrust, two weeks ago, according to Marketing Communications Manager Jessica O'Connor. Baltimore now has over 700 employees, compared with around 450 before the merger. The company has offices in Europe, Australia and the U.S.
