In a move to bring telephones into the Internet age, Cisco Systems yesterday announced 10 new enterprise telephony products.
The networking giant will roll out two Internet Protocol (IP) phones and new versions of its CallManager software and Media Convergence Server (MCS) in the US in the second quarter, Cisco said in a statement.
The IP phone 7960 includes an integrated 10/100 Ethernet switch port that enables users to deploy one wire to the desktop, providing Fast Ethernet to any PC connected to these phones, Cisco said. The company will also launch the 7910, an entry-level IP phone with similiar features and functionality. Both phones will be able to upgrade applications, such as unified communications and integrated directory services, through software updates. The 7960 will sell at $495 plus license and the 7910 will be priced at $145 plus license.
CallManager 3.0 now supports 10,000 phones in a single cluster of five MCS servers, scaling up to 100,000 users per multisite system, Cisco said. CallManager is free for SmartNet users, but comes preinstalled with MCS servers.

A 48-port 10/100 Quality of Service-enabled line card that will provide a migratation path to in-line power capabilities. The latest addition to the Catalyst 6000 line is shipping now, priced at $US12,995.
The VG200, a modular gateway that allows customers to connect IP telephony products to a private branch exchange or public switched telephone network. Pricing starts at $US2,495.
