SAN MATEO (02/25/2000) - Wireless IP linksNokia Corp. announced the Avenue IP access concentrator that will enable up to 50,000 mobile phone subscribers to connect to the Internet at a time, integrating control of the public telephone network via SS7 (Signalling System 7) and dial-up IP access in a single product. The product will be available to customers in September of this year, the company said in a statement. Pricing was not announced.

Fuji goes wireless

Fuji Photo Film Co. and Nokia announced a joint effort aimed at developing wireless technology based on the Bluetooth specification to transfer pictures between digital cameras and mobile devices. The technology would allow users to transmit images from a digital camera to a handset, from which the image could then be transferred to another mobile phone.
