Network Appliance acquires ProVision

Storage networking and Web caching vendors Network Appliance have acquired long-time channel partners Australian ProVision Technology in a bid to ramp up sales in local markets.

According to Michael Bosch, managing director of Network Appliance Australia, the takeover has been a seamless process, due to ProVision's expertise in the vendor's offerings.

"Our biggest issue is that there is a huge potential for growth and we are running to keep ahead of it. Our biggest concern was finding the staff to service this growth. Originally our plan with ProVision Technology was a lot less aggressive, however once we started doing the sums we realised that it made sense to acquire the company." Bosch confirmed that the takeover was a friendly process which will not result in any major shake-ups at ProVision.

"Basically they have become a subsidiary company of Network Appliance, so the management have become sales managers and so fourth, we are certainly not going to put any staff off. They are the reason we acquired the business in the first place," Bosch said.

Bosch denies the takeover should concern the channel community, confirming that it is not a predatory move and that Network Appliance is not planning any further acquisitions at this stage.
