NEC Corp. and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd., two of Japan's largest electronics companies, and Internet Research Institute Inc. (IRI) plan to collaborate in the area of broadband Internet services, the companies said Monday.
NEC operates Biglobe, one of Japan's two largest Internet service providers, while Matsushita, which is better known by its Panasonic brand name, operates the Hi-Ho service provider. IRI is an Internet consultancy.
Details of the collaboration will be unveiled at a news conference set for 1:30 p.m. Monday in Tokyo.
