ANZ rolls out Internet banking upgrade

New platform launches this weekend

ANZ will this weekend launch an updated version of its Internet banking platform, the bank said today.

“We know our customers are looking to do more of their banking via digital channels and we also know we need to continue to make banking as simple and secure as possible,” ANZ managing director, products and marketing, Matthew Boss, said in a statement.

Boss said the upgrade complements the bank’s mobile app, goMoney. goMoney originally launched in 2012, and the bank this year unveiled a version of the app for Apple Watch.

Earlier this year bank also introduced ANZ Shield, a mobile app that offers one-time authentication codes.

“Given smartphones are expected to account for 90 per cent of all internet traffic by 2020, we’re pleased to be able to provide our customers with internet banking that is quick and simple to use on any device,” Boss said.

The new Internet banking service allows businesses to approve payments from mobile devices and has an improved design, ANZ said.

In Australia, ANZ has seen a 30 per cent jump in sales via digital channels last year, and a 110 per cent uplift over the last three years, the bank revealed during its full year results announcement in October.

Mobile banking now accounts for 62 per cent of Australian digital logins, and goMoney processed $64 billion worth of transactions in the 2015 financial year.

The number of customers using the goMoney app, which was launched in late 2010, grew 89 per cent during FY15.

ANZ earlier this year announced it had formed an ‘International Technology and Digital Business Advisory Panel’ to offer advice to the bank’s board on digital business and emerging technologies.
