CommBank Offers app piloted at Westfield Hornsby

Westfield customers who have an iPhone can opt-in and take advantage of offers from merchants

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) is running a trial of its new 'Offers' app at Westfield Hornsby in Sydney from this week until December 31.

The app allows customers who have an iPhone 5 or later model to opt-in to receive tailored offers from merchants such as discounted coffee and food.

Twenty Westfield Hornsby retailers have signed up to the app including Myer, McDonalds, Chemmart, InBloom Florists, Shores Restaurant and food retailers within the centre.

According to Westfield owner Scentre Group’s general manager Bill Burton, more retailers will participate as the pilot expands.

In July, CBA retail products and strategy executive general manager Angus Sullivan said the focus is on making sure that customers get timely and relevant offers.

“If I want to participate in that offer, I slide to the right and it will open up the app,” he said at the time.

Customers will be able to pay for the offer using their credit/debit card or cash.

Loyalty

In more CBA news, the Loyalty feature in the CommBank app is available from today on iOS, following the Android launch in July.

The feature allows customers to store all of their loyalty cards – such as Medibank and Flybuys — into the app as a virtual copy.

They can then use the CommBank app to scan a digital loyalty card at checkout, so they don’t miss out on points if they don’t carry their physical card.

Customers with an Android phone can then make a payment using Tap & Pay. Since launching on Android in July, 50,000 customers have utilised the Loyalty feature, with 190,000 cards added since it was made available, said CBA.
