Facebook head of retail and automotive Stephen Scheeler has been appointed as the social media giant’s new local managing director.
He replaces Will Easton who will be taking on the new role of head of emerging markets for Asia Pacific in August, based in Singapore.
Scheeler will work with brands, agencies and clients to drive their business results using the company’s applications and services.
According to the company, 11 million people in Australia and 2 million in New Zealand use Facebook each day.
According to Scheeler, the pace of change and opportunities to innovate at the company are “phenomenal.”
"We have an amazing team here at Facebook, a strong roadmap and a fantastic suite of apps and services. I couldn't be more excited about the next part of the journey," he said.
Prior to joining Facebook, he was the director of strategy and innovation at Inchcape Australia.
