The Commonwealth Bank of Australia has confirmed that it is experiencing an outage which is affecting its Eftpos machines and access to its online banking system NetBank.
The outage means some customers can’t pay for purchases at CBA Eftpos terminals or access NetBank accounts.
“We’re aware some customers may be experiencing some issues with our systems and we are working to resolve this. We apologise for the inconvenience,” said a CBA spokesperson.
Unhappy customers have taken to social media channels to vent their spleen.
One customer left the following message on CBA’s Facebook page. `Seriously you need to address the outage to your customers. The phone lines are jammed and instead of a message stating there is an issue to be resolved (with an ETA) we are simply left with a message saying you are busy and to call back later.’
“We are experiencing some issues with NetBank at the moment. We are working to rectify this as a priority,” tweeted the bank.
A CBA spokesperson said that services were restored at 2:40pm.
"However Commonwealth Bank acknowledges some customers may face slight delays in our branches. We apologise to all our customers affected by this issue and we thank them for their patience.”
