Google tops Glassdoor's best places to work; F5 outranks Facebook, Qualcomm, Apple

Bain & Company, Nestle Purina PetCare, F5 Networks, and Boston Consulting Group rounded out the top five in Glassdoor's Best Places to Work in 2015.

Google is No. 1 among employees, according to Glassdoor's seventh annual Employees' Choice Awards.

Google landed in first place in Glassdoor's Best Places to Work in 2015, followed by Bain & Company, Nestle Purina PetCare, F5 Networks, and Boston Consulting Group.

In addition to Google and F5, several other tech companies made it into the top 50 on Glassdoor's list, including Facebook (#13), Qualcomm (#14), Adobe (#18), Apple (#22), LinkedIn (#23), Gartner (#24), Nvidia (#36), and Interactive Intelligence (#44).

Glassdoor includes employers with 1,000 or more employees in its ranking. Those with fewer than 1,000 employees are ranked on a separate list, 50 Best Small & Medium Companies to Work For. On that list, Motley Fool took the top spot. Rounding out the top five on the SMB list are Fast Enterprises, Evolent Health, Intacct Corporation, and TubeMogul.

Tech players made a strong showing among the 50 best SMBs, with Spiceworks landing at No. 9. Other tech companies on the list include SoftRock (#13), MobileIron (#14), MongoDB (#17), Cloud Sherpas (#18), MuleSoft (#21), SevOne (#24), AppSense (#29), Arista Networks (#30), Zscaler (#35), and VMTurbo (#40).

Glassdoor, a jobs and career community based in Sausalito, Calif., bases its rankings on the input of employees who anonymously provide feedback about their job, work environment and company. Employees are asked to rate how satisfied they are with their company, how they feel about their CEO's leadership, and how workplace attributes -- such as career opportunities, compensation and benefits, culture and work-life balance -- stack up. In addition, employees are asked whether they would recommend their employer to a friend.

For the first time, Glassdoor also polled UK employees. Google landed at No. 1 in the 25 Best Places to Work in the UK, followed by John Lewis, Microsoft, Accenture, and Jaguar Land Rover.
