Telstra to hawk Blue Jeans videoconferencing

Web-based product said to work with existing video equipment

Telstra will sell cloud-based videoconferencing by Blue Jeans Network, the telco has announced.

The Web-based product lets businesses connect face-to-face over the Internet while sharing content and presentations with staff, partners and customers.

The Blue Jeans service has a local point of presence in Australia, bringing better performance and reliability, said Telstra. The service works with most existing videoconferencing systems and equipment, it said.

Videoconferencing offers the benefits of face-to-face meetings without the high cost and time drain of travel, said Telstra Business group managing director, Will Irving.

“Using video can help you to build deeper levels of trust in shorter amounts of time which means you’re able to reach decisions more quickly,” he said in a statement.

“The flexible workplaces of today are more successful when employees working from home can see their colleagues and customers, and for local businesses to thrive in an increasingly global market, tools like professional video conferencing are an absolute must.”
