Data centre and telecommunications provider Pacnet has completed phase two of its Sydney CloudSpace1 (SYCS1) facility.
An additional 350 racks and 3 megawatts (MW) of power have been added to the Tier III data centre. The facility, which was opened in February 2011, has 41,700 square feet of space.
According to Nigel Stitt, CEO of Pacnet Australia and New Zealand, the enhanced data centre is a “great alternative” for organisations wanting to expand their co-location environment.
The company is also an approved supplier on the Datacentre-as-a-Service Multi-Use List, which allows federal government agencies such as the Department of Finance and Treasury to procure cloud services.
The company operates four CloudSpace data centres based in Sydney (SYCS1), Hong Kong (HKCS1 and 2) and Singapore (SGCS1) which are part of its network of 27 facilities across the Asia-Pacific region.
In February, Pacnet announced that it was consolidating three data centres in Melbourne into a caged suite at NextDC’s (ASX:NXT) Melbourne 1 (M1) facility.
The suite houses 100 racks containing Pacnet data. Stitt said at the time that the data centre consolidation would create "operational efficiencies" for its Australian network.
