Apple has confirmed that its co-founder Steve Jobs has died.
In a statement on its website, Apple said it had lost an “amazing human being” and encouraged fans to share their thoughts about the leader.
“Apple has lost a visionary and creative genius, and the world has lost an amazing human being,” the statement said.
“Those of us who have been fortunate enough to know and work with Steve have lost a dear friend and an inspiring mentor.”
The news has left Twitter in overdrive, with "RIP Steve Jobs" becoming a top trending topic only minutes after the news was announced.
