UXC wins a potentially major contract

UXC Limited (ASX:UXC) has secured what could prove to be one of its largest deals to date, to work on an Oracle-based IT system for Victoria's City West Water

IT services company UXC Limited (ASX:UXC) has won what it says has the potential to be one of its its biggest contracts to date.

The company revealed it secured a deal with Victoria's City West Water for the first phase of a project to implement an Oracle-based IT system.

The project ultimately involves applications, database, integration middleware, hardware and operating system assets. It will require ongoing applications support.

UXC did not disclose the size of the initial deal, but said that if the company fully implements the project, it would be one of the largest contracts it has ever won.

UXC managing director Cris Nicolli said City Water's selection proves that more Australian firms are coming around to the prospect of entrusting local companies with large IT projects.

“More and more Australian clients are seeking the delivery of [these projects] by local companies with strong local resources,” Nicolli said.

UXC shares grew 7.77 per cent on Wednesday to $0.555.
