IDG awarded for excellence

IDG Communications publications received 18 awards Friday for publishing excellence from the Australian Business Publishers Association (ABP).

CIO Magazine was named Business Magazine of the Year for the second year in a row, the first title to repeat as the top award winner and also was recognised as the publication with the Best Case Studies Series of the Year. CIO Editor Linda Kennedy won an award for Best Opinion Segment Series of the Year.

CIO was highly commended in eight other categories, including Best Analytical Writing, Best Editorial Issues Campaign, Best Internet Site, Best Circulation Promotional Programme, Best Single-Issue Print and Business Publishing Project of the Year. CIO writer Sue Bushell was highly commended as Business Writer of the Year.

Also highly commended by the ABP was PC World which was highly commended as Best Specialist Magazine of the Year, an award it won last year, as well as for Best Product Information Series.

Australian Reseller News was highly commended for Best Editorial Issues Campaign of the Year and Best Opinion Segment Series of the Year. Channel X was highly commended for Magazine Launch of the Year.

Don Kennedy, IDG's managing director, said the awards were strong, independent recognition of IDG's commitment to publishing excellence. "For the second year in a row we have been recognised for our editorial quality, our online innovation and our commitment to superior production and circulation. We are very grateful to the Australian Business Publishers Association for their recognition, and regard these awards as incentives to continue to do our best."
