Former Microsoft employee, Chris Ridd, has been appointed as the new managing director for Online accounting software provider Xero.

Xero chief executive, Rod Drury, said he was thrilled to have Ridd join the team and building on Xero’s presence in Australia.

“Chris brings top level business development capability and management skills,” he said in a statement.

Previously, Ridd held the role of director of the Microsoft Dynamics Business Group for Australia where he managed a staff of 22 and was responsible for end-to-end business functions including sales, channel, marketing and product management.

He brings an approximate 20 years experience within the Australian IT industry working in a range of areas including enterprise sales and marketing, product management, strategic planning, business analysis, channel development and people management.

First Data

Electronic commerce and payment services company, First Data Corporation, has appointed John Tait as its new managing director for Australia and New Zealand.

Effective immediately, Tait succeeds former managing director, Grant Lines who has held the role since 2008 and is to depart on 16 February, following a transition of duties.

Previously, Tait was senior vice president, client relationships and sales, responsible for the strategy development, effective planning, management and performance of the sales and service department.

First Data International executive vice president, John Elkins, said following Tait’s previous position he brings a highly credible customer focused orientation to his new position.

“We look forward to John leading our dynamic Australian and New Zealand business and pursuing growth opportunities for First Data within the ATM, EFTPOS and switching portfolios,” he said in a statement.

Prior to joining First Data in 2001, Tait worked for the National Australia Bank in various management positions in its global payments division.
