Mash-up offers calculations in the cloud

SuccessFactors offers new take on business analytics

SuccessFactors has introduced software that it claimed will enable organisations perform on-the-fly business calculations in the cloud.

The software, known as Calculator in the Cloud, uses technology acquired from Danish company YouCalc, bought by SuccessFactors earlier this year. Calculator in the Cloud allows business users to create analytic mash-ups from systems such as financials from an ERP system, sales metrics from a CRM system or customer satisfaction stats from call centre software

The product is being released in two formats: Live Forms and Live Analytics. According to an SuccessFactors spokeswoman, the difference between the two is that Live Analytics has the mash up capability, it can mash up data across several Forms. "This is a standalone app, the data doesn't have to be in a Form, the app can pull data from other sources for analytical purposes," she said."While Live Forms refers to data in one form, for example, if you were using Compensation as an example, that would be solely one Form."

"What we're doing with cloud analytics has never been seen before. The analytics power, flexibility and speed we're wielding makes SuccessFactors the hub for business insight not just across our BizX Suite, but across any other cloud application. This ability to do analytics mash-ups is just the latest in a series of new analytics capabilities we introduced this year to bolster the power of the entire BizX Suite," said Lars Dalgaard, founder and CEO, SuccessFactors in a statement.

The new software is included on the current SuccesFactors platform. As it has been developed with built-in Java Calculator in the Cloud can run across the entire SuccessFactors suit.
