RSinteract offers end users direct access to SQL and Oracle

Reporting made simple.

End users are to be given the opportunity to create Oracle and SQL reports without calling on the assistance of technical staff.

RSinteract has developed a tool that will deliver information to end-users from SQL Server as well as Oracle data sources. RSinteract 3.5 allows IT staff and end-user to access and manipulate information from SQL and Oracle without the requirement for a metadata layer, saving on system overhead.

Wayne Gallaway, RSinteract's chief operating officer RSinteract, said: "Some of our prospects and customers were plagued with their end-users' inability to report on data from an Oracle and SQL Server data source efficiently using the same reporting tool. They wanted users to be able to query data from a number of Oracle tables without having to write technical SQL statements. Much to their surprise there was no product in the market to address their requirements. All methods of accessing the additional Oracle database were convoluted, compromised by speed and the high total cost of ownership."

The new RSinteract release, v 3.5, will be commercially available at the end of October 2007 and offers a range of additional features including: OLAP support, pre-filtered pick lists, 64-bit operating system and faster drill-through. The company said that the next version of the product would include support for Report Builder Models, which is scheduled for release in early 2008.

The company is in direct competition with Oracle itself, offers its own reporting tool, Business Intelligence Discoverer, which also allows end users to access the company's database products.
