Leader Computers signs up DrayTek

Potential looms for ADSL modem market in SA

SA-based distributor and assembler, Leader Computers, has inked a deal with networking vendor, DrayTek. Leader director, Theo Kristoris, said the vendor had been looking for a distributor to carry their ADSL modems in the SA market.

"They didn't have anyone here and approached us," he said. "That market is growing so rapidly, so we tested their products, saw the quality and decided to take it on-board."

Kristoris said the products would sit alongside its current range of Billion and Linksys modems as well as its Vodafone broadband products.

He said there would be bundling opportunities for its partners with DrayTek modems and Leader PCs and notebooks. Partners that take up DrayTek products will have access to special introductory pricing.

"There is a lot of potential for DrayTek in SA and we would like to get more ISPs as well as target this range to our corporate resellers," he said.

Leader joins DSL Warehouse, Warcom, OzTechnologies.com and CompuWholesale in the distribution line-up.

"Leader is a very organised company and is well regarded in SA," DrayTek managing director, Ming Leu, said. "We always had a bit of a hole in SA and had some smaller dealers in Tasmania, and we needed to have people locally to support them."
