A snapshot of postgraduate courses as supplied by deadlineQld University of Technology Masters of Information Technology (Professional)The Master of Information Technology (Professional) has been specifically designed for IT professionals with a minimum of two years working experience. The program offers students the option to study modules in SAP, information security and software engineering.

This Web-based course offers flexibility in both course structure and information delivery, and incorporates work-based problems into the curriculum. Students can choose to study the standard Masters option of 12 subjects (144 credit points) completed over six semesters - flexible/external (three years), or two Graduate Certificates in Information Technology (four subjects of 12 credit point units) followed by a further 48 credit points to complete the masters. The graduate certificates offer specialisations in enterprise-wide software (focusing on SAP), information security and software engineering.

The second option offers students the opportunity to undertake small packages of study (four subjects) on a self-paced basis while working towards the masters. Alternatively, the graduate certificates can be completed as stand-alone qualifications.

Master of Information Systems

Master of Information Systems is an advanced coursework program for IT professionals with a degree in information systems (or equivalent) and at least one year relevant work experience. It is designed to provide students with knowledge in electronic commerce, interaction design and usability, knowledge management, data warehousing, and enterprise systems. To complete the course, students must complete 12 coursework subjects. Students construct their course by selecting from available elective subjects. Subjects are offered in the evening and in block mode to suit both part-time and full-time study. The course may be completed in three semesters full-time and six semesters part-time. Students may choose to graduate with a Postgraduate Certificate in Information Systems after completing four subjects, or with a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems after completing eight subjects.

These flexible degree structures allow students to design their own program of study in the areas of information systems, technology and management. Information systems and technology covers systems analysis and design, data management, telecommunications, computer processing, e-commerce, EDP, audit, management of information systems and applied expert systems within business. Information management covers how people create, seek, find, categorise, represent, evaluate, use and store information. More than 30 courses are offered in this business discipline, plus they can be combined with courses from other business disciplines such as accounting, business law, finance, employment relations, international business, marketing, organisation and management studies and taxation.

University of New England

UNE offers Graduate Certificate (four subjects), Graduate Diploma (eight subjects) courses in Computer Science and IT and a Master in Computer Studies (12 subjects). The postgraduate program is available on-campus, externally and online. Computer Science requires a C++ programming background but preliminary units are available. Admission requires either a Bachelor degree in IT/Computer Science or extensive IT industry experience (which must be proved). Applications open all year, studies start in February and July. All courses are internationally recognised.

Graduate certificate, graduate diploma, masters in Design Computing or Digital Media. This program provides a broad exposure to the various aspects of design computing, giving the design professional and the computing consultant a comprehensive and strategic view of the applications of computing to design. Graduates from the design computing program move into architectural, engineering, and design companies that require strategic developments in their use of computing.
