Telstra expands the globe with Infonet

Telstra has expanded its existing relationship with global networking services provider, Infonet Service in a new agreement which spans the globe.

Under the terms of the agreement, Telstra joins Infonet's Global Solutions Providers program and will provide services to Infonet's frame relay, Internet, intranet, electronic commerce, multimedia, messaging, and collaborative products and services worldwide.

In turn, Infonet becomes a partner of Telstra's Global Customer Solutions program along with Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, Nortel, Unisys, Anixter and Wang.

According to officials, Telstra already has a similar agreement with Infonet in Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and the UK.

Jose Collazo, chairman and president of Infonet, said: "[The agreement] is a natural extension of the success we have enjoyed with Telstra in these countries. In taking the relationship worldwide we expect even greater success."

As part of the agreement, Telstra will establish a number of new global points of presence, increase focus on the global data and Internet markets as well as work together with Infonet on joint product developments.
