ACCC warns Telstra on call transfers

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) yesterday warned Telstra it faced fines of more than $30 million unless it reforms its processes for transferring calls between telcos.

CWT understands the ACCC has warned Telstra that, unless it reforms the existing antiquated processes, it faces fines of $30 million if it fails to comply with new competition notices, as well as fines of up to $3 million per day for each day it fails to comply.

The ACCC is understood to believe Telstra uses its existing manual system to keep prices high.
