Citrix debuts large-scale Windows 2000 platform

Citrix Systems has launched its most powerful application serving and management platform to date, Citrix MetaFrame XP for Windows 2000.

MetaFrame XP is designed for large-scale applications supporting as many as 100,000 users on 1000 or more servers to access Windows from any device, over any connection whether it be wired, wireless or Web.

The company's Asia-Pacific managing director Nabeel Youakim said there may be only one or two Australian organisations managing server farms that have between 35,000 and 50,000 users but companies need a "lot of head room" over the next few years.

"Getting business partners and customers logging onto their system means scalability and plenty of room to move," he said.

Citrix will begin shipping MetaFrame XP later this month.
