BMC Software Inc. yesterday detailed an electronic-business management initiative, Service Assurance for E-Business, that is intended to provide application service assurance to enterprise customers.
BMC officials said they anticipate that the services offered through the software packages will provide better service levels for customers, reduce system downtime, and help companies efficiently manage networks and e-commerce environments.
The initiative is a conglomeration of three BMC solutions: Patrol for E-Business Management; Mainview for E-Business Management, and Service Assurance Center for E-Business.
"Today's announcement is all about bringing the competitive advantages of the Internet to the enterprise and bringing the discipline and quality of the enterprise to the Internet," said Max Watson, president, chairman, and CEO at BMC.
Patrol for E-Business Management helps manage network devices, Web servers, and firewalls with BMC management products such as Patrol for Firewalls, Patrol for Microsoft Site Server (Commerce Edition), Patrol for Netscape Application Server, and Patrol for Internet Services.
Mainview for E-Business Management provides management services for Web-enabling IBM's OS/390 platform. Offerings include Mainview for WebSphere, Mainview for Network Management, and Mainview for Systems Management. Transaction monitoring and database connectors are provided in the platform.
The third piece of BMC's initiative, the Service Assurance Center, combines methodology, products, and services into a service management solution designed to improve business availability and emphasize the importance of e-business management.
